Buying a Luxury Home: Selecting a Realtor

Tip #2: Selecting a Realtor

Take the time to work as hard in finding an agent as you will in finding the right home. As you strive to be a professional in your particular field, expect the same from your Realtor and only accept the best. Check references and prior history of selling homes and assisting home buyers in Virginia or elsewhere.

Talk to potential agents about their experience and what they've learned in and about the real estate business over the years. Ask if they have a niche or specialize in a particular area of home sales and property purchases.

Are they up-to-date on their local assocation classes, education and ethics criteria mandated by the state? Have they had special training or sought advanced expertise?

Find out their general background, college education and professional career before becoming an agent or broker.

Talk to them about the local market and gleen how much they truly understand the area in which you wish to live.

Then talk about the properties they've sold in the past: how many upscale homes have they sold or helped people buy in the last year? Are they really active in the business and have they made real estate their full-time profession.

What price ranges do they work in and what is the total amount of property values they've assisted home buyers and sellers over the course of their lifetime?

Ask the right questions. Do your research upfront and you'll find an agent that is better prepared to work toward acheiving your goals over the long haul.
